Chaucer Group, the specialty re/insurance business, has announced the appointments of Emma Brown and Andy Cleair as Class Underwriters within its International Property division. Both are based in London and report directly to Mel Smart, Head of International Property Fac.
In their new roles, Brown and Cleair will work closely with Smart to help expand Chaucer’s international property portfolio. They will focus on bringing in new opportunities through their broker relationships while continuing to manage existing accounts.
Brown joins Chaucer with more than two decades of experience in both the Lloyd’s and company markets. She most recently served as a Senior Property Underwriter at SCOR for over five years.
Her previous experience includes underwriting roles at Navigators, Novae, Liberty, and Allied World, where she primarily specialised in property classes of business.
Cleair also brings more than 20 years of market experience to Chaucer. Prior to joining, he was a Senior Property Underwriter at Everest Syndicate.
Earlier in his career, he spent time at Aviva as Property Underwriting Manager, overseeing D&F business, and worked for more than 13 years at XL underwriting complex, multinational property programmes.
Chaucer’s International Property Fac team now consists of nine underwriters across offices in London, Miami, and Dubai, with each team member bringing more than 20 years of industry experience.
